It’s happening!

We did it. We have finally found the property for us! This past April, we purchased just under 50 vacant acres. The place where we will build our home, our business and our homestead. For the past few years, this is what we have been dreaming of and it feels very surreal to be happening.

We’ve dreamt of growing our own food. Providing food for our family and friends. We’ve dreamt of living off the land, a life of self-sufficiency and simplicity. We’ve dreamt of building our own home. We’ve dreamt of bringing nourishment to the land and soil through intentional practices. We’ve turned our dreams into goals. Goals, we have refused to give up on. We have encountered some obstacles as the years have gone on, but we never lost sight of what we want and what we feel called to. The Lord has been faithful. Since we have closed on the property, we’ve been asked multiple times, “What’s your end goal?”. This question has made us consider and evaluate our goals. We realize with each year as we work toward our goals, things will morph and change and ultimately that means there isn’t a specific “end goal”. We are excited for all the adventures to come.

Our property is completely vacant, exactly what we were hoping for - a blank slate. There is both pasture and woods on the property. There is so much potential! We’ve spent hours discussing how we plan to develop the property - a house, pig paddocks, fencing, water, garden, pole barn, butcher shop, greenhouse, pond, the list goes on. Of course these things will take time. This summer we will begin the process slowly, starting first with a place for us to call home. We can’t wait to improve the soil through regenerative agriculture practices, manage the forest and ultimately steward God’s creation for His honor. We deeply feel this is God’s provision for our life and we are very grateful.
